Week Seven of my Remote Internship

Compared to my previous weeks of my job, this week was fairly light with work. I started the week off by doing an interview with a great Juniata Professor for my research video project. It was best interview I’ve ever done and it wasn’t even in person! We talked about government debt and crowding out and for someone who is terrible with economics, I actually learned and fully understood something! Now I have completed all of my interviews for this project so I can start writing the script and transcribe the answers.

I spent the remainder of my week working on my script and starting to research for my next video project about care insurance. Both of my supervisors were unavailable or on vacation that week so I was almost kind of on vacation too.

To celebrate the 4th of the July, I had a half day on Friday. Bill McMorris, Chief Editor at the Free Beacon, came back and introduced our I-Team assignments. He is going to help the other interns and I write and professionally publish a news source as a freelance writer! We have to come up ideas for a investigative or feature piece by next week and I have no idea what to write.

Kirby Wilbur, a radio host and former NJC executive director/current board member, came to speak about how to conduct interviews. I learned so much from him in a hour and half and I can’t wait to use his tips in my upcoming interviews.
