This week consisted of me working constantly. But don’t worry, it’s a good thing.

Monday consisted of me attending 3 meetings where I got some critiques on my first Veteran Oral History video, talked about my research video project and got more assignments for the week. I really like my bosses because they are always there to help and are extremely understanding.

Tuesday I mainly focused on writing news stories. This week, my favorite story I worked on was about how the Minneapolis City Council decided to disband their police force in order to end police brutality. I personally could not imagine that happening in my town, crazy times I tell you.

Wednesday I focused on creating a social media post for the Army’s 245th Birthday. Let me say, I learned the hard way the pictures that come up in Google Images aren’t what you search. My bosses wanted me to find a picture of a WWII Army Men and every picture I chose was not that. The worst picture I chose was a German soldier and despite the German on his uniform, I thought it was an American soldier. Luckily my bosses just laughed it off and caught the mistake before we posted it. The post became very popular on the social media accounts, with having nearly 600 shares and 524 likes on Facebook alone.

Thursday I started working on a Veteran Oral History video about WWII veteran, John Hancock. I edited the interview to showcase his story when he was deployed in Pearl Harbor and learned so much from just working on this video. My bosses seemed to like it and we plan on posting it on the 4th of July!

One of the best parts of this week was receiving a care package from the National Journalism Center. I was blessed with lots of NJC gear like a t-shirt, cup, stickers, pen, pin, sunglasses, etc. However, the best thing I got in the box was a 2020 calendar of Ronald Reagan modeling on his farm.

Next week will be my last week without having news seminars every Friday! I’m hyped to start meeting some renowned journalist even if it’s through Zoom.
